Bitcoin has a fixed maximum supply of 21 million coins. This chart tracks how many bitcoins are still left to be mined over time, along with the percentage of the total supply that has yet to enter circulation.
New bitcoins are created as a reward to miners each time a block is added to the blockchain. This reward is cut in half roughly every four years in an event known as the halving, which steadily slows the rate of new issuance. The final bitcoin is expected to be mined around the year 2140.
