Bitcoin Average Block Production

This chart represents the number of Bitcoin blocks per minute over Bitcoin's history.

The block time can change due to fluctuations in global hashing power—where Bitcoin miners may join or leave the network in real-time.

More miners joining would decrease the block time, while more miners leaving would increase the block time.

What are the different lines on the chart?

  • Avg BTC Block Time (Raw Data): Shows the 24-hour average, capturing daily variance and short-term network volatility.
  • Avg BTC Block Time (7-Day MA): Shows a 7-day moving average per minute, filtering out noise to show the current week's production trend (shown as default).
  • Avg BTC Block Time (30-Day MA): Shows a 30-day moving average per minute, providing a long-term baseline for network stability and growth.
